The family cat adopted the squirrel and has been nursing it as one of her own

An injured squirrel was found by Bailee Schultz, 8, by his grandparent’s house in Bangor Township. Grandmother Stephanie Box told MLive.com Bailee brought her to the squirrel, which was under a nest and less than a week old.

They put the squirrel, which Bailee has christened “Bushytail”, in the cat house, a straw-lined wooden house on stilts where Oreo the cat was nursing her kittens.

They want Oreo to keep an eye on Bushytail for a while, but said they’ll give the squirrel all due freedom when he’s old enough.
